About me

This started out as just a fun little site to share pictures of our daughter when she was a newborn. As my daughter has grown up, I am now focusing on my creative endeavors: sewing projects, craft tutorials, and building or restoring dolls.

In the meantime, I started some other sites:

Who Were They? – dedicated to showcasing lost and forgotten photos from the past, and when possible finding family to return photos to

Gram’s Recipe Box – I started with my grandmother’s handwritten recipes and then branched out to other people. No ads, no blathering about my life before telling you about the recipe. Just the card, sometimes a little explanation, and that’s the facts, ma’am.

You might be sensing a theme here. I love history. This blog is also my foray at creating history in the web 2.0 world. Written journals, newsletters and even postcards are falling by the wayside. How do we disseminate information? Via websites! I hope you enjoy this little corner of the web, leave a comment, and maybe even subscribe. Thanks for visiting!

I’m Martha

Welcome to Notes From the Melody Maker – a site I am using to share my doll work, craft work, and various tutorials for like minded people. I make and restore china head dolls and many accessories for them, based on antique Victorian patterns and sewing techniques. I’m no professional, I just love to do it! Every once in a while I’ll do some other crafty things and share those too!
