I don’t do resolutions, never have before now. Well, I take that back. I’d make up a resolution at some New Year’s Eve party because I felt I ought to have some goal I’m working toward, and so I came up with resolutions such as “Read the works of Homer” or “Drink less.” I did not accomplish either one, lol, although I did start The Iliad if that counts for anything. Somehow my Dad got wind of this resolution and lo and behold, a copy of The Iliad showed up at Christmas! It’s tough reading if you aren’t truly dedicated.
But, just because having a child changes everything you ever thought was “normal” I think this year I should come up with a resolution or two, not on the spot, and actually work toward them.
Hm………..
Still thinking………
Read The Iliad?
Okay, for real, I am trying to think of realistic goals to set for myself for 2009. Even if they do include the typical “eat less/drink less” goals, bear with me. I’ll even try to track them and this blog might even work to keep me honest on some of these.
1. Lose a little weight – i.e. eat less and move more, notice how I skipped the “drink less” codicil?
2. Drive the speed limit – ahem, I don’t need to actually increase my speed to accomplish this goal
3. Save up for a china cabinet and actually purchase one
4. Keep in better touch with someone I miss
I think that’s it for now, my poor little brain isn’t used to this goal setting thing. And, it’s late. And, it’s only December 28th so I have time to add to this list.
I could just recycle my resolution list from 1985.
Lose weight
Quit smoking
Hey how about that? I achieved one.
Well the quit smoking one is a great accomplishment! I know that is hard; congratulations!
Happy New Year! Good luck with your resolutions.
I’m with you on not making resolutions. But, not that it is a resolution, I’ve decided to try dating again. Know any nice guys… (Gramma, just relax, let me go at my own pace.)
